The objective was to migrate five of our WordPress websites into Lightsail. Initially, tried to accomplish through Bitnami Multisite. In addition to finding the process not that user friendly, also came to know that migrating individual sites will not be easy. While migrator plugins like UpDraftPlus might help backup, migrate individual sites, the same not possible under free plan.
Plesk was another option and worked well. It would help manage sites just like we are working on shared hosting with the likes of GoDaddy and NameCheap (though they use cPanel, and there is an option to start cPanel instance on Lightsail but not yet tried).
Here is a tutorial to refer:Â Set up and configure Plesk on Lightsail.
Press Connect using SSH and type: sudo plesk login.
Paste first url on browser: https://brave-moore.15-207-86-22.plesk.page/login?secret=5JvRw-GLYN302Pdpvc4d3x3bKJmqtFHobeCFQCU-5m3w97p3
To sign in later, navigate to https://PublicIPAddress:8443
. Replace PublicIPAddress with the public IP address or static IP address of your instance. For example, https://15.207.86.22/:8443.
Then enter the username and password created earlier to sign in to the Plesk panel.
Since, the proposed domain digitalsplendid.host is to be installed as a WordPress website, I go to WordPress menu on Plesk.
My objective is to migrate already hosted WordPress instance to this newly created instance on Plesk. I will be using Migrator Guru plugin for migration.Â
Next, I need to move to the WordPress website from which I intend to migrate. I activate Migrate Guru plugin.
