Founders, fuel up: AWS Build program empowers startups
Source: Empire Flippers newsletter dated 11 Aug 2023
Amazon Web Services (AWS) has launched AWS Build, a new initiative to help early-stage startups.
Up to 500 founders from all over the globe will be selected to take part in a 10-week program where they will learn how to successfully kick-start their businesses.
Entrepreneurs will receive both technical and business guidance, learning how to effectively leverage AWS’s technology stack, as well as how to incorporate advanced cloud features like analytics, artificial intelligence, and serverless computing.
The program also guides founders on strategic decisions related to product development, finding beta customers, monetization, and more.
Entrepreneurs entered into the program will receive up to $2,000 in AWS credits to help them develop their products and services in the cloud.
The program will run fully online from October 9 to December 15. Weekly virtual engagements include technical office hours with AWS experts, interactive sessions with venture investors and industry leaders, and networking events with peers.
Once the program wraps up, founders will join the AWS Build community, a global network of peers and technical experts who provide ongoing collaboration and advice.
Applications for AWS Build are now open and will be accepted until September 22, 2023.
Interested entrepreneurs can sign up to take part in the AWS Build program here.

Still “manually” migrating WordPress sites?
Source: WP Engine newsletter dated 3 August 2023
In last week’s webinar, on WP Engine’s Builder Tools we shared a few of the recent improvements to WP Migrate. We extended our existing database export functionality to be a full-site export – adding the ability to include media files, themes, plugins, and even WordPress core files.
You can also drag and drop this exported zip file right into Local, and in a matter of minutes, spin up the site on your local machine. Meaning you can build locally in a low-stress, low-risk environment.
One really cool thing about when an export is imported into Local is Local will automatically match PHP and MySQL versions to the export files! Making the whole remote to Local workflow faster and easier than it’s ever been.
Introducing Dropbox for Startups
Source: Dropbox newsletter dated 29 July 2022
Dropbox is announcing Dropbox for Startups, a program designed to empower founders with the tools they need to accomplish more with less.
Recent years have caused a dramatic shift in the way we live. As more and more people depart from traditional jobs to pursue their passions full-time, the startup landscape has become increasingly competitive.
From developing a standout product, to financial constraints and securing funding, the obstacles startups face can seem endless. Founders entering the exciting and challenging world of fundraising need access to tools that save time, money, and help them navigate the fundraising process from end to end. That’s why Dropbox is announcing Dropbox for Startups, a program designed to empower founders with the tools they need to accomplish more with less.
Eligible startups can now enjoy access to discounts across the suite of Dropbox products: Dropbox, DocSend, and HelloSign. Founders can choose any or all three to set themselves up for fundraising success, all the way from sending their first pitch deck to signed investor agreements.
Founders associated with any investor, accelerator, or startup community that participates in the DocSend Partner Program will now be eligible for Dropbox for Startups. The DocSend Partner Program is a network of more than 700 VCs, accelerators, and banks that offer industry insights, DocSend discounts, and access to the DocSend Fundraising Network to their startups. Any U.S.-based startups that aren’t currently associated with anyone in the program can refer their VC or accelerator to join.
